The Lagos state Government proposed light rail system seems to be coming up well, with rail tracks now being laid on the flyover rail-bridge that would run from Orile down to the island.
The ongoing project, an initiative of the Lagos State Government in conjunction with World Bank, is set to ease business transportation from the Badagry end of Lagos down to Lagos Island.
Governor Babatunde Fashola on one of his regular visit to the site declared that the pace of construction work is quite impressive commending the men on ground. He described the project as something that would be of great benefit to Lagosians and charged news men to tell Nigerians what they saw. “You owe all the obligations to show Lagosians what you saw. You see the work that is going on; people are working even on Sundays. So, it is a 24 – 7 – 363 day operation. They go on break only for two days in a year”, Governor Fashola saying to the press.
The new trains recently acquired by the Nigerian Railway Commission, which is due to be rolled out soon will be largely used on the Light Rail System construction Lagos. Ordered by the MD of Nigeria Railway Commission – Mr Adeseyi Sijuwade, these new trains are of top quality.
